Cookie policy
What this site stores in your browser.
Analytics only, and it stays off until you say yes. No advertising or marketing cookies.
What’s a cookie?
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser so it can recognise you next time. Local storage does a similar job. I’ve listed both below and I’ll just call them cookies.
What this site uses
| Name | Set by | What it’s for | How long | Needs your yes? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| blossoming-consent-v1 (local storage) | This site | Remembers your cookie choice | 12 months | No, the site needs it |
| _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID | Google Analytics | Counts visits and which pages are read | 13 months | Yes |
| blossoming_4 and blossoming_4_init | Improvely | Shows which pages and sources lead to signups | 12 months (the _init one ends when you close your browser) | Yes |
When you arrive, nothing on that list runs apart from the first line. Google Analytics and Improvely only load if you click Accept.
Other things you might come across
- The AlexAI chat (the button on every page) is run by Pickaxe, which may store what it needs to keep your conversation going.
- Fonts come from Google Fonts. No cookie is set, but your browser asks Google’s servers for them, so Google sees your IP address.
- Checkout and booking pages (ThriveCart and HighLevel) are on their own sites and set their own cookies.
- The Thinking blog runs on WordPress. If you leave a comment and tick the box, WordPress saves your name and email in a cookie so you don’t have to type them again.
- Links to my other sites and my Substacks take you to places with their own cookie policies.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time. If you switch analytics off after saying yes, the page reloads so it stops straight away.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, I treat that as a no. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
For how I handle personal data more generally, see the privacy policy.
